National Parks
Many of our train vacations are paired with visiting National Parks. Prepare for your upcoming vacation and learn more about National Parks fees, park passes, and top tips for maximizing your trip.
Travel documents are emailed to you or your travel agent 14-21 days prior to the start of your vacation. If you booked within 30 days of travel, please keep in mind you will receive your documentation closer to your departure date. Please make sure to review your documents for accuracy and to ensure that everything you need for hotels, transfers, sightseeing, and train journeys is included. If there are any discrepancies, please give us a call as soon as possible.
It may seem obvious but don't forget your passport or a valid ID! You will need a valid passport if crossing the Canadian border, and a valid ID for train travel within the US. For complete passport and travel information, please visit http://travel.state.gov/travel. Travelers are responsible for knowing current requirements.
Train tickets: Your train tickets were sent to you in a separate attachment in your travel documents email. Please review your tickets to make sure that all passengers and routes are listed correctly.
*Please note that as you booked through Amtrak Vacations or Railbookers, you won’t be able to pull up your booking within the app, however, you can track the status of your train by entering in the train number on your tickets.
Vouchers: Our travel partners may require you to present a voucher for services provided, such as private transfers, meals, sightseeing tours, and admissions. Sometimes, a separate voucher is required, and that will have been sent to you in a separate attachment. Each traveler does not require his/her own voucher unless otherwise stated.
If you have a mobile phone, please ensure that you have given us the number and that you keep it charged and switched on while you are traveling. This is in case we need to get in touch with you. Without this information we are not able to contact you should there be any disruptions or an emergency.

It is a condition of booking with Amtrak Vacations that you have travel insurance for your trip. Please make sure that you are suitably covered for the entire duration of your vacation.
If you need assistance or have questions prior to your vacation, please give us a call at the phone number on your invoice. If you need assistance while on your trip, please refer to the below instructions. If you need assistance regarding your trains, please call us at 1-800-268-7252 or call Amtrak directly at 1-800-USA-RAIL. If you need assistance regarding a sightseeing tour, transfer, or excursion, please call the number on the voucher to speak with the operator directly. If you need assistance regarding a hotel stay, please speak with the hotel’s front desk, or call them directly at the number on the voucher.
Unless specified on your itinerary, transportation to and from airports, train stations, and hotels is not included. Taxis are widely available, and there is usually a taxi queue right outside the train station. Rideshare services may also be available, but that will depend on the destination. You can also ask your hotel’s front desk to arrange for a taxi to pick you up from the hotel.
If your sightseeing tour does not mention hotel pickup, you will need to make your own way to the meeting points. Our hotels are centrally located, so it should only be a short walk or taxi ride to the meeting points.
If you do have private transfers specified on your itinerary, please make note of the instructions on the voucher, and ensure your mobile phone is turned on, in case the driver needs to contact you. In most cases, you will also need to call the transfer company at the phone number on your voucher to reconfirm pick-up times and locations. If your flight or train is delayed, please call the number on your voucher to inform the driver.
The train location tracking map on Amtrak.com gives you train statuses, estimates of arrival times and even station information for every Amtrak train across the entire Amtrak system. That means the map covers coast-to-coast movements, 365 days a year and can be accessed 24 hours a day with just the click of a mouse.
You can also track your train on Amtrak.com or through the Amtrak mobile app. Please note that as you booked through Amtrak Vacations or Railbookers, you won’t be able to pull up your booking within the app.
Meals are not included with your vacation unless traveling on Amtrak or VIA Rail in sleeper accommodations, or specifically mentioned in your itinerary or travel documents. If your sightseeing tour includes lunch or if your hotel does include complimentary breakfast, it will be mentioned on your travel vouchers.
